His mission papers are in!

Wes had his interview with the Stake President yesterday so his mission papers are now officially submitted. We should know in less than 3 weeks where he will be called to go. In Utah, the letters usually arrive on a Wednesday so probably March 16th or March 23rd will be the day! What a day

This morning we woke up early to head up to Clearfield to help my brother and family move into their new house. We stopped for a brief sledding adventure on the way. We were able to get them moved in in about 2 hours, so we then grabbed some lunch, hit the Layton Mall, then went to Temple Square. We came home to watch the BYU bball game but the DVR didn't record it. :( I guess BYU won, so that's all that matters! Scott then took the girls to see Gnomeo and Juliet while I'm enjoying some quiet time!

Extra helpers this week

Joseph's family is staying with us for a week until they close on their new house in Clearfield. Here are a couple of pictures of Josh and Jarom helping me clean and cook. Jacob and Nicole are a bit more camera shy, but I'll try to get some pictures of them soon!

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

My birthday was wonderful! Scott brought me breakfast. I had so many thoughtful birthday wishes on Facebook. Thank you all!
Chelsie is on break from school right now, so we spent the day together! We did a little shopping at Taipan, Target and JCPenneys. Then we came home and relaxed. When Scott came home it was sooo windy and had started snowing so we decided to stay in for the evening. I wasn't expecting a gift especially after all he did for Valentines Day, but in he came with a gift bag. Now I was a little shocked when I opened it to find a Shake Weight. I was like o, really? He got me good, cause he then pulled out my real present, a necklace from Brighton. It's so pretty and I was very happy, then he pulled out another gift, the matching bracelet. Wow, he's good! Heather, you've taught him well! I loved being surprised and I think he loved fooling me and seeing my reaction! We spent the evening playing Boomtown and watching Modern Family!

Kelly doesn't look thrilled to have her picture taken! She's sick and only played because it was my birthday.

Be My Valentine!

Scott did great this year on Valentines Day! Romance is not usually his best subject but he came through with flying colors! He surprised me with cookies, flowers and balloons! He even sent me a GoogleMap Valentine with the location of our first date pinned! He also brought both of the girls a balloon and a rose! He was sooo thoughtful this year!

We got Scott a bluray and a nice home cooked meal: steak, potatoes, asparagus, and lemon cake for dessert!

Friday night

Friday night we headed downtown to Thaifoon for a yummy dinner then we went to the Conference Center Theatre to see BYU's own A Cappella group, Vocal Point. What a great performance! It was a wonderful evening out.

Super Bowl

Busy Weekend!

We've been busy for the last few days! Claudia flew in on Thursday to help Jennifer with some wedding preparations. Thursday night we made a late night trip to Cabellas to help Scott get ready for his camping trip. Friday night Scott went camping in Ogden with the Scouts, the girls babysat, and I went wedding dress shopping with Jennifer, Claudia, Allie and Sarah. She found the perfect dress! And we capped the night off at The Old Spaghetti Factory. Saturday we cooked and cleaned, then headed down to BYU to watch the Men's Volleyball game vs UCLA! It was sooo fun! BYU won in 3, but the 2nd set was a nail-biter! Go Cougars! We ran into Nicole Gingrich at the game as well and chatted with her for a bit, and we met up with the Bills for ice cream after the game. It was great catching up with them and we look forward to seeing them again soon---hmmm skiing for hockey?!!!! Wes and about 13 of his closest friends (haha) will be coming up this afternoon to watch the Super Bowl--I'll take any excuse I can to see him! He'll be submitting his mission papers soon, he's just waiting for his stake president's interview and it will be done!

Quotable Quips and Laughable Life

I decided that I wanted to add a small section with little things that my kids have said or done over the years that I never want to forget and I think are worth sharing. Unfortunately I was much better at writing these things down a bit late in the game....Chelsie steals the show here a bit. If only I could remember all those things I thought I'd never forget. I hope you take my challenge to write down all those things you hope to pass on one day.

When Chelsie was about 2 she had been jumping on my brand new couch, so I promptly told her to stop jumping on the nice furniture. Her response was very logical. "Then where's the mean furniture?"

While camping in the Sequoias, the entrance sign read, "1 bear incident this week...." Kelly mispronounced it as 1 bear accident....later in the bathroom, Chelsie noticed wet spots on the floor, and announced, "This must be where the bear had the accident."

We had a family home evening on choosing the right, and we thought Chelsie understood but when we asked her she said, "Yes, don't choose the left!"

When Kelly was in the 5th grade, she needed to use the classroom phone to call me. She dialed 9 to get an outside line, then she had to dial 1 because I have a long distance cell phone number, but she accidently hit the 1 twice. When the 911 dispatcher answered she was scared and just hung up. 5 minutes later the front office called the classroom stating that 3 sheriffs had arrived ready to take action and were wanting to know who called and why. Now it was by sheer coincidence that this was a morning that there was a prison breakout, so officers were on high alert. Kelly was embarrassed then, but can laugh about it now!

When Wes was about 4, he used to tell everyone that he was going to marry his friend Elizabeth, and that they were going to have 16 kids, and maybe a car.

When Chelsie was 3 1/2 we told her she needed to learn to spell her name. She responded, "I already know....A L I Z A."
(That was her best friend who taught her)

I was talking with my girls about the weather, and Kelly said, that stupid beaver was wrong, spring is not around the corner. Chelsie then chimed in, it's not a beaver, it's a warthog. Clearly I have failed them.
