Ice Cream on a Wednesday?

Hmmm, any ideas why we might be eating ice cream on a Wednesday morning?

We're celebrating!!!! Wes passed his driver's license test on the first try! Way to go, Wes!

Party like a 16 year old....

Last night Wes had a volleyball game, so we surprised him with Happy Birthday posters when they announced him. It was pretty fun! A bunch of our friends were there and we surprised him with a small party at Wings and Things after the game. It was an extremely intense game that we ended up losing in 5, by 2 points. But the party was a hit! No one went home hungry...look at the size of this pizza.

18 Years

Today is our 18th year anniversary....wow that's a long time. We celebrated by going out to dinner last night at Barbacoa, a Brazilian steakhouse. As always, it was yummy! Oh and we came home to have Vince's famous cheesecake---delicious!

It's Saturday!

Wow, the silent auction was great last night! We dressed western style, we enjoyed some of the best cheesecake in the world (Vince Cioffi's of course), and we spent all of our money! We walked away with some exciting things:

5 dz chocolate chips cookies with a cute bowl
2 slices of cheesecake
1/2 a cheesecake for later
SLC condo rental for 1 week (now we have a place to stay while Wes is at volleyball camp at BYU)
Smoked brisket dinner by Chef Spencer Voges
Dessert of the month by Jamie Voges
Kayak trip
Wings and things gift card (this might come in handy for Wes' bday)
Pool party with volleyball
and Chelsie won 2 stuffed bears

Good thing that economic stimulus rebate is on its way!!! We had a great time and it's all to help the scouts and the young women get to camp. Thanks Heather and Daleen for pulling it all together!

Things on our list today:
Make chocolate strawberries
Mow the lawn
Practice for the driving test
Volleyball game
Anniversary dinner
Eat cheesecake!!!
....................sounds like a fun day to me!!! Hope you all have a great weekend as well!

Just an update....

Well, life has calmed down a bit this week.

We kept the truck so Wes is ecstatic!

My parents are on their way to Rexburg this morning. My niece will be making her entrance into the world today most likely. My sister in law Milli was induced last night after some liver complications. We're anxiously awaiting the news!

Wes played a bit in the last game, but should be starting in this afternoons game at Canyon.

Kelly has practice today and a game on Saturday which will be the first one we ALL get to attend!

Chelsie's class has eggs in an incubator at school waiting for them to hatch, which she's very excited about. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the tadpoles!

I've had a lowkey week, helping friends out with their projects---well mostly I just held Heather's baby while she worked! ;)

Scott is looking forward to a relaxing Saturday, maybe he should work a trip to the golf course into the plans!

Sunday is our 18th year anniversary!!!

Our Ward Auction is tomorrow night, we're all very excited about it. Chelsie is even taking money to "bid" on things she wants!

As always I have to leave you with a picture....its really just a random shot, but still very cute!

This was a crazy busy week. Wes played vball against Saugus on Tuesday and against Valencia on Thursday. He played in one game each match. He had to be at WRTV Thursday night for Open House. He went to the Santa Barbara Tournament Friday from 1pm-midnight and Saturday from 6am-6pm. Kelly had a beehive presidency meeting on Tuesday, learned to cook at mutual on Wednesday, vball practice on Thursday, a field trip to the Malibu Getty on Friday, and a game on Saturday. Chelsie, well, she's always busy!!! Did I mention we bought a truck for Wes to drive on Friday?!? Actually we have until Sunday night to make sure we want to keep it. Here's a picture, tell me what you think. It's a 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport with 109k miles. It looks immaculate inside but does have a slight smoky smell, that we are working on extracting. Such a stressful thing making this decision. I think we got a good deal, but the whole smoky smell is really weighing on me. Scott left me at the dealership to take care of it as he had to drive boys to the tournament. I just about had an anxiety attack--haha--and honestly I've felt nauseous ever since. I'm hoping its a touch of the flu and not just the wrong decision. Did I forget to mention it's yellow? :) Wes saw it late last night for about 5 minutes, hopefully he'll have a bit more time tonight to take a look. He has his appointment for his driver's test on April 30th.

Cutie pie

Chelsie was being silly so I had to take a few pix of her. She has a smelly sticker on her hand from school and was proud of it.

Beach House

Ward Youth Conference started off Tuesday morning bright and early at 6:45 am. Around 60 youth plus the leaders drove to the LA temple and then journeyed to a beach house in Ventura for the remainder of the trip. Kelly closed her eyes for the FIRST time of the trip on WEDNESDAY evening for only a couple of hours, then stayed up again for most of the night, and only sleeping for a couple of hours on Thursday. She was beat when she got home. She fell asleep around 7 and slept until 11am on Friday!!!
They had a great time! Lots of food, friends, games, water, and even a testimony meeting. Our youth are great!

Highlights:
*Will and Nate Hjorth, Matt and Madison Bills came back for the trip.
*Kelly did baptisms for the first time.
*During testimony meeting, the girls were all hugging each other afterward......Wes found it funny to hug Collin after his, and Spencer and Taylor quickly joined in.
*Scott spoke of his noncompetitive nature, only to outdo the bishop on anniversary years.
*Spencer and Wes made a whole lot of french toast and bacon.
*Scott and Wes are masters of the game Mafia.

*Brother Gingrich saved the day, when the kids found out that no one brought video games, he stopped by our house and picked some up on his way Tuesday night!

*Scott and Kelly's team (green team) won the Olympics.

*Scott was playing dominos, and choose Megan to not penny because when he asked why he shouldn't to all other players, she was the first to yell, "I've been to your house!"
*George's BBQ!!!
Lowlights:
*Scott forgot to check his recommend, unfortunately it had expired the month before so he sat in his car for 5 hours while the kids were at the temple. :(
*Spencer stubbed his toe and lost his nail.
*Kelly lost her bag of toiletries only to find out Spencer had it the whole time! NO toothbrush for 3 days!!!
*20 minutes into the drive home, Allison realized she still had the bishop's keys, so Scott turned around and drove them back. :)
*Lots of bruises from climbing on the rocks.
*Tired, tired, tired.

Wild Thing!!!

Today, Chelsie and I went to the zoo with Mimi, Rebecca, and Natalie. We had a great time. The weather was nice, it wasn't crowded, and the animals were active! Scott, Wes and Kelly are gone to youth conference at the beach house, so it was a nice treat for us to do something special while they were away. Here are a couple of pictures of our fun day at the LA Zoo.

Shopping in LA

We drove down to the Fashion District yesterday to buy a tux for Wes and 2 of his friends for the LDS Prom. Wow, was that an experience! Like Tijuana on steroids!!! Actually, it was alot of fun, and we found just what we were looking for, at a great price.
Wes asked a girl by giving a "quote" to her seminary teacher to have her read aloud in class and in the middle, it asked her to the prom. Awwwwww!!! That's my boy! Her class marched down to announce her answer. It was really cute! It's not until May 9th, so there will be more posts to come as we get ready for this!

Swimsuit makeover

We've had the hardest time finding a one piece swimsuit for Kelly to wear to the beach house. So we improvised. We found a bikini that had a matching wrap with it, so we had a seamstress friend sew it together to make a one piece...it turned out super cute!

Painting crafts

The girls love to paint things, so we picked up some palm tree picture frames for them to paint. Just one more thing we've worked on during spring break....and still another week to go! We did go see Nim's Island today, it was cute. Tomorrow we're heading to LA to look for a tux for Wes for the LDS prom, and then maybe we'll look around for a car for him. He has his drive test scheduled for April 30th. Scott, Wes, and Kelly will be heading to Youth Conference at the beach house next week. They're really forward to it!

April Fool's Day Eggs

We were so busy before Easter that we never got around to dying Easter eggs, so the girls and I did it while they were on Spring Break---on April Fool's Day!!! They had a great time, and didn't care what day it was. Chelsie enjoyed taking some of Kelly's eggs because she finished hers quickly.
