Tears

Volleyball season has come to a close. Theresa Grant did a great job planning the banquet. Thank you Theresa!!! I wasn't able to go but Scott recorded part of it for me. I cried. Wes was given the Coaches Award. We are so proud of the person he is, on and off the court.

Kelly learned to play a new song on the guitar. She is so talented. Again, tears flowed as I listened to her play. We're so proud of her, finding her own path, and putting her all into it.

Chelsie has been a trooper the last couple of weeks. She wakes up cheerful and does whatever needs to be done. She's grown up so much. I think I am the biggest baby in the house now...excuse me while I go wipe my eyes.

As the World Turns....

My world has been spinning lately more than most. But it's finally settling. About 2 weeks ago, I woke to violent dizziness, but thanks to a persistent husband, wonderful friends, a great physical therapist, I am well on my way to recovery. I had an occurence of BPPV, it's a type of vertigo caused from calcium crystals in your inner ear. Fortunately, there is a maneuver that can be done to put these crystals back in their place. It was not fun but I'm glad I did it. I am so grateful to my friends and Scott for jumping in and taking care of "my life" while I couldn't. My family was brought wonderful meals, they were chauffered where they needed to be, I was watched over as I sat in a semi reclined, dark, quiet position for days, my friends made me laugh when I didn't think I could, they picked up the pieces for things I needed to get done. I am so thankful for the priesthood and for the strength of prayer. I am thankful for my family and their patience while I overcome this trial. I can't wait to get back to my life!

Castle Project and Flat Chelsie

Kelly built a castle for extra credit in History. Scott helped a bit with the foam cutting, but Kelly did a great job!

Chelsie also had a school project, but she didn't do it! Grandma Curtner, Beth, and Laura did! Chelsie had to create a flat Chelsie to send to a relative that lives in a different state. They in turn had to take flat Chelsie on an adventure. It was great! They created a book with rhymes all about their trip to the arch, a cardinals game, they put Chelsie in a bottle and sent her down the Mississippi and then they picked cotton. Thanks for putting so much effort into it, Chelsie's was definitely the most creative in the class and she loves it!

LDS Prom 2009

It was raining when we arrived at the park to take pictures so Wes is holding an umbrella over them.

The LDS Prom was at the Gene Autry Museum this year. Wes and Ashley looked so cute together! They had a great time and even went to an after party so they got home around 5am. Scott and I got to be western "characters" so we had fun dressing up and posing for pictures throughout the evening. We're lucky to be able to take part in such great events, Thanks Muirs!

Quotable Quips and Laughable Life

I decided that I wanted to add a small section with little things that my kids have said or done over the years that I never want to forget and I think are worth sharing. Unfortunately I was much better at writing these things down a bit late in the game....Chelsie steals the show here a bit. If only I could remember all those things I thought I'd never forget. I hope you take my challenge to write down all those things you hope to pass on one day.

When Chelsie was about 2 she had been jumping on my brand new couch, so I promptly told her to stop jumping on the nice furniture. Her response was very logical. "Then where's the mean furniture?"

While camping in the Sequoias, the entrance sign read, "1 bear incident this week...." Kelly mispronounced it as 1 bear accident....later in the bathroom, Chelsie noticed wet spots on the floor, and announced, "This must be where the bear had the accident."

We had a family home evening on choosing the right, and we thought Chelsie understood but when we asked her she said, "Yes, don't choose the left!"

When Kelly was in the 5th grade, she needed to use the classroom phone to call me. She dialed 9 to get an outside line, then she had to dial 1 because I have a long distance cell phone number, but she accidently hit the 1 twice. When the 911 dispatcher answered she was scared and just hung up. 5 minutes later the front office called the classroom stating that 3 sheriffs had arrived ready to take action and were wanting to know who called and why. Now it was by sheer coincidence that this was a morning that there was a prison breakout, so officers were on high alert. Kelly was embarrassed then, but can laugh about it now!

When Wes was about 4, he used to tell everyone that he was going to marry his friend Elizabeth, and that they were going to have 16 kids, and maybe a car.

When Chelsie was 3 1/2 we told her she needed to learn to spell her name. She responded, "I already know....A L I Z A."
(That was her best friend who taught her)

I was talking with my girls about the weather, and Kelly said, that stupid beaver was wrong, spring is not around the corner. Chelsie then chimed in, it's not a beaver, it's a warthog. Clearly I have failed them.
